The next regatta I would like to recommend is the South European Championship on the Lake Caldonazzo –Trentino (Italy) on 1-3 June. My recommendation is well-grounded as I personally know this lake and club (I have so far participated in 9 regattas organized there) and I can guarantee that the organizers along with commodore Ass. Velica Trentina – Herbert Hoerterich will try hard to make the competitors and guests remember Caldonazzo for a very long time. The atmosphere created by Ass. Velica Trentina is the quintessence of our motto “Serious Sailing, Serious Fun”.
I would also like to draw your attention to the East European Cup ( 30 June – 2 July ) which coincides with the rally of sailing-vessels and a major sailing event in Gdańsk (Poland). We have decided to organize EEC 2012 along with Nord Cup in Gdańsk, because other big regattas of various classes are scheduled there at this time (an event similar to the famous Kieler Woche). I would also like to inform football fans that Gdańsk is one of the cities hosting Euro 2012 matches. We will be able to watch the final mach together on a huge screen on Sunday, July 1. (a pint of good beer on the house).
Next weekend, 6-7 July 2012, we can take part in the Piada Trophy. This year it will be held in Talamone (Tuscany ) on the Tyrrhenian Sea instead of Cervia. I wish organizers a great success and competitors a lot of fun and good winds- the place is considered to offer the best conditions for Snipe sailing in whole Italy!
Additionally, I would like to encourage everybody to participate in as many events as possible, both in national and international regattas. Let me recommend two more events. In the beginning of May (5-6) you can participate in the famous Majsnipen regatta in Goeteborg (Sweden) and , as annually, in Danmark Habroe Cup in Zeeland . I wish Jan Persson to organise them as every year in good conditions and nice atmosphere.
Furthermore, I would like to discuss one more issue. This year we have started planning the calendar very early and I believe we have succeed in scheduling and coordinating the events in the upcoming season both in the south and north of Europe. My special thanks go to Jorn from Norway, Pietro from Italy, Rafał from Poland and Damir from Croatia. I do appreciate their involvement and help thanks to which a lot of us will be able to participate in several regattas in different countries.
Finally, I would like to thank the establishers of snipetoday.com for a 100% successful enterprise and would like to wish them to reach all Snipe Sailor- also outside Europe. Congratulations, Pietro, Alberto and Carol!
