In some areas of in southern Finlandthere was still 20 cm snow at the time when Croatian Masters Championship was organized in Kostrena, Northern Croatia near the city of Rijeka by the Yacht Club JK Galeb in April 21-22.

Eight Croatians teams got visitors also from Italy and Finland. In the first day the regatta committee and sailors faced demanding conditions in form of light and shifty winds. Italian Stefano Longhi with crew Fulvio Levantini mastered the first day, seconded by Kai Saarhelo’s Finnish team. Six hours at sea but only one finished race on Saturday. Anyhow, food, wine and sailing spirit at the Club was great in the evening.

Sunday was completely different. Finally it was blowing. Heavy western wind and shallow costline created nice surfing conditions for the first two races. Stefano managed to break his shroud before the first start. Some local sailors were polite to the foreigners and turned the nose of their Snipes back to the club. Anyhow, the long distance traveller’s from North enjoyed the wet and chilly conditions with full heart and took the two first shots before the hosting team M. Reljanović – B. Grego. Coming rain killed the wind and RC decided return to the club after the two races.
