At age 9 with my father in his Snipe.

The one that qualified me for my first World Snipe Championship in 1975, and the one that qualified me for the Olympics in Montreal and Seoul.

– 6) And the race/regatta you would like to forget?

The one for the Barcelona Olympic trials, which I lost because I had to sail with a herniated disc.

– 9) The most important people for you in sailing and in the Snipe?

In both cases Paul Elvstrom. I have had the honour to sail with him in the Tornado Olympic class.

– 10) Why the Snipe?

For multiple reasons, 1st because that is where I started to sail with my father, 2nd because I have been able to sail with my children, 3rd because I can sail with my grandchildren and race against my children, and 4th because I can do this with a boat that is 50 years old and which I built myself.

– 11) Your perfect sailing venue and your perfect sailing conditions?

My perfect venue is Santander and my perfect sailing conditions (when I was less than 50 years old) were in 22 knots. Now at 67, 10 knots are better.

– 12) Besides sailing which other sport do you practice?

None at the moment, but when I was younger I played hockey on grass

– 13) Are you superstitious?

No.

– 14) Your perfect holiday?

To take a cruise with my family and enjoy time with my grandkids and reading books.
