A Gold medal at the 2008 Olympics. An Olympic match racing campaign that’s well underway. Why does someone with those aspirations come to sail at the Snipe Women’s Worlds in Florida? The short answer is that the competition is strong and and the competitors make you feel welcome.
A longer answer involves wanting to hone fleet racing skills with your teammate in a tough light air venue after months of short course match racing. It was a challenge to work on boat speed over a long beat or a longer run against some of the best women sailors in the world. Winning the event in the last race was an added bonus.
