Dunphy Boats built a lot of sailboats, most importantly Snipe class one-design racing and family sailboats, which were very popular and competitive in the late 1930s and 1940s until a few years after WW II. Many Snipe championships in the midwest were won with Dunphy Snipes, particularly in the years just before WW II.

Snipe designer William F. Crosby had a new Dunphy Snipe #4000 "Also" which he raced on Long Island Sound in 1939 and 1940.

A Snipe owner in WI has two Dunphy Snipes, one is being restored and modified to replicate Snipe #4000. I raced against several Dunphy Snipes in western MI from 1948-57. Here is a photo of 1939 Dunphy Snipe #4000 and another of 1951 Dunphy Snipe #8364
