After Zeltic, Jibe Tech and DB Marine, now it is time for an interview with Okumura, Snipe builder in Japan.

ST: Can you tell us the history of the company?

Our History:

Okumura began as a boat builder in 1917, starting with yacht repair for foreigners living in Japan. Currently the company has a share of 70% of domestic dinghies, producing about 200 vessels per year.

ST: When did you start to produce Snipes?

Okumura launched its first Snipe boat in 1953.

In 1970 I began a partnership with Chubasco in the United States and began to produce production Snipes out of FRP.

We’ve built over 3000 Snipes so far.

How we build:

The mold build process is by CNC, using high quality materials made in Japan.

We are confident to be the best in the world at processing accuracy.

ST: What can you tell us about the hull design?

We exchange views with the sailors about the shape of the hiking area, derived from the perspective of human body mechanics, and we even test every day to reduce air resistance in wind tunnel experiments.

Future:

We will continue to use high-quality materials with excellent manufacturing technology, research and technology, and as is typical of Japan, make a snipe of high quality and performance.

I’m thinking seriously of global expansion in the future, and I want to spread the news around the world that the Snipe made in Japan is excellent.

Our goal is to win the World Chanpionship.

We will participate in WHO, ARG.
