A cold front passed through last night with one dramatic line of thunderstorms, fortunately while everyone was inside the Buffalo Canoe Club enjoying Mexican Night. This morning we woke up to clear skies, a temperature of 59 degrees, and a puffy, shifty offshore northerly breeze that we knew would be challenging. With velocities trending down all day, there were still puffs to hike in for the third race of the day… as well as some big lulls that were hard to recover from. With shears of shifts that oscillated as much as 40 degrees, it was very hard to come back from a bad start even over a 1 hour race.

Raul Rios/Mac Agnese continue to lead the regatta, but Jim Bowers/Julia Marsh won the day today with a 1,4,3, a sign that perhaps the sailing was a bit more like Jimmy’s home waters of shifty Mystic Lake in Massachusetts than the rest of the fleet would’ve preferred. Only two other teams achieved 3 top ten finishes for the day: 2nd place Ernesto Rodriguez/Eduardo Mintzias and 4th place Peter Commette/Hilary Noble.

The forecast is for light air tomorrow and Friday, but we shall see what BCC serves up as our next surprise.
