PLEASE: this is a very short sided program. We all know who the winning and advanced sailors are in our fleet and we love them (or not- doesn't matter).

Many other Snipe sailors not listed meet challenges not public or published in Snipe Today who also make accomplishments beyond "winning" in the context of the Snipe fleet.

This includes long standing Snipe sailors who sail with current active sailors, who also bring new sailors and retired sailors into the class and who also promote the class thru Snipe sailing practice and sailing in regattas locally and nationally. I think we all know what I mean here.

Please pay attention to Old Man Diaz out of Miami who has maintained a crew training program for many years which is likely to promote and sustain the fleet for many years.

And also for a very good recent Snipe Today example: please read the article by Louis Soubie. He makes a convincing argument for the fundamental importance of basic boat preparations before winning the regatta. He's not commenting about winning, he's commenting on how to go fast.

Your current solicitation is promoting the "elite" of the class.

I vote: to abandon your vote and advance a broader Snipe culture.

It was my fault.
But consider that this is "just" a poll, where we decide to "nominate" the sailors who won a major event or a National Championship. This is only a criterion, maybe debatable, but we decided to follow this criterion ...
On the site we have posted news and article about promotion of our class, coaching initiatives etc. We are trying to advance a broader Snipe culture - as you say - but we need the help, the contibutions and ideas from you and from other Snipe sailors. It is not easy for us to find news, write articles, ask people for contributions every day, 365 days in a year (a big THANKS to everybody has worked on the site!).
This is not an excuse, but a call for your help, Dear Greg and Dear Snipe Sailors!
