World Masters Rescheduled to 2030

APRIL FOOLS’ DAY – THIS IS A JOKE

Due to an abundance of post-virus shotgun weddings, the St. Petersburg Yacht Club calendar is already booked up for the next decade and so the 2020 World Masters (already postponed due to the Corona virus) have been resecheduled for May 1-6, 2030. In order to ensure that the current crop of masters will still be competitive a decade hence, the organizers have stipulated that only sailors who are already eligible to win the Id Crook Memorial Trophy can be declared the winner in 2030. “That’ll keep our championship safe from a young’un invasion,” regatta organizer Steve Lang promised.

Lang added that, while unfortunate, this lengthy delay was a necessary step to flatten the (learning) curve for aging Snipe-ists.

Former commodore Gweneth Crook disagreed with both the ten-year postponement and the unusual prescription that sailors in the 35-44 year old age bracket would still be ineligible ten years from now, insisting that “we need to include the apprentice masters because nobody else can party like my dad did.”

Lots of time to renegotiate this raw deal, so do send us your comments and suggestions.
