Regata Nazionale Orta

Orta, September 22-23, 2012. Enrico Solerio And Sergio Simonetti won the regata nazionale in Lago d'Orta. Regatta report, results and Italian Ranking list. The Circolo Vela Orta hosted the last Regata Nazionale of the season, valid for the Ranking List of the Italian Snipe Class. The very long season started in March in Sanremo, continued with the Regate Nazionali in Riccione and Lake Bracciano, then the Italian Championship on Lake Garda, and finally with this Regatta in Lake Orta. It is bizzare that, although Italy is a peninsula with thousands of miles of coastline, among the 5 regattas valid for the Ranking List, 3 were sailed on the lakes. Lake Orta is an amazing pre-Alpine lake, separated from Lake Maggiore by Mount Mottarone. It is located not far from the Simplon Pass and Switzerland. If the weather is clear, you can see the majestic Monte Rosa in the distance. The lake is surrounded by forests, and the villages are mostly well integrated into the natural landscape. The island of San Giulio is in the center of the lake with a church and a monastery.

The Circolo Vela Orta hosted the last Regata Nazionale of the season, valid for the Ranking List of the Italian Snipe Class.

A fleet with an old tradition is active on this lake; it has been proud and happy to host this regatta.

The hospitality and kindness of the Circolo Vela Orta and its President Gianmaria Brambilla was excellent.

The Race Committee, chaired by the P.R.O. Fabio Barrasso, did their best for completing a valid regatta. Of the two days we sailed only Saturday, and completed three races with very light and erratic winds. Two races were shortened due to unexpected drops in the wind.

ALIM0255There were three different winners in three races: Dario Bruni and Carlo Collotta, Francesco Rossi and Marco Rinaldi, and Enrico Solerio and Sergio Simonetti. It was very easy to go into light wind and lose many places. For this reason, almost all the teams had some bad races.

On Sunday, the lack of wind left the ranking unchanged, so the victory went to Enrico Solerio and Sergio Simonetti. Second place was Pietro Fantoni and Laura Cerni and third Paolo Lambertenghi and Silvia Pederiva.
