Talamone, March 2-3, 2013. Report and results
For those who come from northern Italy and go up the hill that separates the sea from the high road “Aurelia,” the view of the Bay of Talamone is always a spectacle that leaves you breathless.
Sun and good wind characterized the five races held at Snipe Bay this first weekend of March. Along with Snipes were a dozen 29ers, sailing in a national regatta.
Saturday the wind blew from the east 7-18 knots. As often happens when the wind is offshore, the wind was very unstable in direction.
Moral winners of the first round were Fabio and Daniela Rochelli, who were deceived by a change of course; they had been leading with a wide margin over second, but finished the race third. They filed for redress and were given average points.
The second race had wind over 15 knots (at least during the first beat) and was an Olympic course. The Rochellis won the race in front of Pietro Fantoni and Laura Cerni. Another good result for Alberto de Paoli and Anna Mosca, who finished very close to the first two teams.
On Sunday, the wind came from the sea, at the beginning at 6 knots, and increasing to 12 knots during the day.
The “Rockets” were able to win again, followed by Fantoni-Cerni and Berti-Fontana.
In the last two races Fantoni-Cerni had good starts and were able to cover the followers. In both races Fabio and Daniela were second and Claudio Ciufo and Gabriella Mazzacuva third.
The Campionato Invernale di Talamone will finish on Sunday, March 17. Three races are scheduled.
