Our Fleet El Gato is not going through a good time numerically, but the participation of 3 boats from Friuli Venezia Giulia, 2 from Romagna and 1 from Liguria made the 59th edition of the Campionato dell’Adriatico well attended and very tight.

On Saturday, the event was stopped after the first race for the approach of a storm (shown in video in another part of the site) that forced the Snipe fleet to return to the harbor, so at the end of the day, the ranking was led by the youth local team Pugiotto – Grossato who had surprised everyone with a perfect second beat and then maintained the lead until the finish.

On Sunday the weather allowed for 3 races in light winds. Every race was won by a different team and the final standings show 4 teams only 2 points apart.

In the first race Rochelli – De Reya stretched their lead during the second beat to win the race, but in the next race immediately Fantoni – Zuzic took the lead and went on to a victory of indisputable evidence.

In the last race of the day the 4 boats still in contention for the title jumped out in front of the group. It is interesting to observe that with a small change in the order of arrival, these 4 could have all concluded the series with 7 points. Instead Perini – Berto won the race, but it was the overtaking of Perdisa – Rinaldi by Fantoni – Zuzic that won the overall prize.

So Pietro Fantoni is reconfirmed for the second year in a row as Champion of the Adriatic, this time together with Eleonora Zuzic, a young and talented Laser sailor from Trieste.

For the Combinata dell’Adriatico (Campionato dell’Adriatico in Chioggia + Coppa Tamburini in Rimini) it was a battle between two teams from Romagna, but the advantage gained in Rimini by Giuseppe Prosperi was enough to keep leadership of the combined standings, despite the good weekend in Chioggia of Perdisa – Rinaldi. The trophy (a beautiful bell) goes into the hands of the strong helmsman of CVRiccione and the crews Marco Ceccarelli (who sailed in Rimini) and Stefano Muccioli (in Chioggia).
