End of the 2016 Paulista Snipe Class Championship in Ilhabela!

The end of the Paulista Snipe Class Championship proved to be an amazing show with three races last Sunday. In the first race, the sailors were hit with a 12 knot sea breeze. We reached 18 knots in the last race with a great beam and a beautiful sunset back to the ‘EVI – Escola de Vela Ilhabela’ (Ilhabela’s sailing school).

The Sao Paulo Snipe class thanks Ilhabela’s Secretary of Sports, Mr. Sergio Basito and the EVI team: Ida Alvarez (Nautical Director), Ronilan Rodrigues (Sports Director) Leticia Sabina Borges de Moura and Daniel Cândido de Macedo for the excellent organization and the opportunity to realize the most important championship of the class on the premises of the newly renovated school.

The class also thanks dear Beto Jesus, Captain of Ilhabela’s Fleet 455, for the organization and completion of the championship!

We also thank Judge Daniel Fontana and his team: Rodrigo Fontana (CR montage), Capito, Ivam, Nene, Caius, Felipe, Lucas and Cauê and Dionysio Sulzbeck who lead the Protest Committee.

The Snipe Class of São Paulo has grown tremendously in the last three years. In this time we noticed a very nice increase in the commercialization of new and used boats. Since November last year we have had the buy/sell rate of a boat per month with the arrival of new sailors and with the return of the great masters to the class! And without doubt, the most important part is to see the waters full of Snipe sailors!

The fleet captains of São Paulo are excited about next year’s races, hoping to have more boats on the water. With our Paulista ending now and the Brazilian scheduled for late January (also in Ilhabela) we have a new perspective of developing our coastline flotillas with new races and championships! More news awaits!
