Invernale Toscano (Winter Series): final results after 11 races (2 discards)

This last weekend 25 boats from 22 different sailing clubs sailed on Snipe Bay for the “Winter Trophy”, which was part of the “Campionato Invernale Toscano – Trofeo Fosco Santini” (Winter Series) with the final 3 days of racing.

The wind, initially fluky and light, was at the end steady on the final day of Sunday. In the first and second day the RC was able to manage to complete only one race per day, while in the third day all the 3 races scheduled were sailed.

The wind was very light from West on Friday; from the opposite direction (East – 6-5 knots) on Sunday. For the last three races on Saturday Snipe Bay showed a nice easterly wind, veering to the South East from 6 up to 10-11 knots.

So, five races were completed for the “Winter Trophy” (with a discard), that were added to the six (of the Winter Series) already sailed during the previous weekends to bring the total amount of races to 11 (with 2 discards).

The “Winter Trophy” was won by Pietro Fantoni (Circolo della Vela Muggia) and Arianna Buzzetti (Circolo della Vela Talamone). Paolo Lambertenghi (CV Torbole) and Antonio Bari (Associazione Velica Trentina) were second, and Dario Bruni (CV Cremona) and Carlo Collotta (Vela Lago Ledro) were third. For the Juniors the winners were Lapo Savorani (CVT) and Federico Milone (CVT), in front of Alessandro Bari (CV Torbole) and Leonardo Franzini (AV Trentina).

The final ranking of the Winter Series “Trofeo Fosco Santini” shows at the top of the podium Pietro Fantoni and Arianna Buzzetti. At the second place is the team composed by Francesco Scarselli (YC Cala de ‘Medici) and Marco Rinaldi (CUS Bologna). At the third place is the team Lapo Savorani – Federico Milone, awarded also as first junior team in front of Samuel Savoldelli (AVB) – Martina Cristoferi (AVB) and Mario Giacummo (AVB) – Alessandro Cristoferi (AVB).

Talamone will host during the winter months, for promoting the Snipe Class among young sailors, winter training sessions for the Juniors. These sailing activities will be run by the coach Gonzalo Crivello with the cooperation of the Circolo della Vela Talamone and the Associazione Velica Bracciano.
