The twentieth edition of the Campionato Invernale di Talamone (Winter Championship) ended last Sunday.

Three consecutive regatta Sundays and eight races were completed. It was a challenging program, especially for those who had to travel many miles to go to Snipe Bay every weekend.

After three races with medium-strong wind on the first Sunday, all the others were characterized with medium-light wind and four different teams were the winners.

The fame of Snipe Bay is well deserved: even when in other places it may difficult to get decent conditions, in Talamone the chances of racing are very high, even in Winter.

In the end, Pietro Fantoni (Yacht Club Adriaco – Trieste) won the series with Arianna Buzzetti (Circolo della Vela Talamone). For Pietro it is the ninth victory in the winter championship, while for Arianna it is the fourth.

The home team finished second: Lapo Savorani and Alessandro Bari (replaced the last day by Edoardo Borioni). Always very fast, especially with medium to strong air, and they sailed very well, but they were unlucky in some circumstances.

Third were Ivo Gattulli and Paola Passariello (Associazione Velica Bracciano), winners of a particularly tricky race. Fourth were Dario Bruni and Emanuele Zampieri, who had to include 3 DNCs from the first day.

The excellent hospitality of the Circolo della Vela Talamone included a dinner on Saturday and the awards ceremony in the beautiful setting of its lighthouse clubhouse, overlooking Snipe Bay.

See you in 2019
